Hey everyone, I’ve been following the Aleka Simmons case closely, and something I can’t seem to shake is how the system failed her that night. It’s chilling to think that Aleka herself called 911, expressing fear for her life, yet the initial response by DKPD didn't prevent the tragedy. How could the officers overlook those desperate hang-up calls? It makes me wonder about the protocols in place for responding to domestic disturbance calls, especially when someone is audibly afraid. Aleka deserved better protection, and my heart truly goes out to her family and friends. They have to navigate life without her, carrying this immense pain. I hope there are lessons learned here by the authorities to ensure it doesn't happen again. Thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this horrific event. Stay safe, everyone.
