I can't stop thinking about the impact this event has had on Marquan Shyiheem Patten’s family. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain they're going through after losing someone so young and full of potential. It's just terrible to think that Marquan's life was cut short in such a violent way. Something that’s really bothering me is how this incident highlights the growing issue of gun violence among youth in Augusta. We often discuss broader statistics, but when it becomes personal—like with Marquan's case—it puts into perspective how urgent the need is for our community to come together and find solutions. This was not just another statistic; we lost a real person with dreams and a future. Sending all my thoughts to Marquan’s loved ones and hoping the community can rally around them during this difficult time. There’s power in coming together, and maybe with increased awareness, we can work towards preventing more senseless tragedies.
