I stumbled upon Jacqueline Laster's case recently, and it really struck a chord with me. It's such a tragedy that she became another statistic in Baltimore's violent crime epidemic back in 2012. I can't help but think about the community dynamics in West Baltimore during that time. It's hard not to wonder about the support systems — or perhaps the lack thereof — that might have surrounded her and others affected by similar tragedies. The area must have felt like it was in a constant grip of fear with shootings being almost a regular occurrence. What stood out about Jacqueline's case is how she was reportedly the main target, yet details around why she was targeted are so scarce. It's frustrating not knowing more about the circumstances that led to this horrific event. Did she fall through the cracks due to systemic issues, or was it just a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time? For the family, I can't imagine the pain of having no resolution — no answers or justice — even after all these years. My heart truly goes out to them. I hope discussions like these can help keep her story alive and, maybe with time, bring some form of closure.
