I’ve been following Corey Adderley’s case, and something that stuck with me is how his teachers described him as such a positive presence at Savannah High School. It’s unreal to think that a young person who had so much potential and impacted those around him is no longer here. The entire situation makes me think deeply about how communities can protect their youth more effectively. It’s encouraging to see that community leaders are now taking steps towards addressing gang violence, but it’s heart-wrenching that it often takes a tragedy to spur action. My thoughts are with Corey’s family, friends, and everyone in Savannah grappling with this loss. It’s crucial that we continue to push for changes that can prevent other families from experiencing such grief.
