I've been thinking a lot about the role of apartment management in tragedies like Lohi's. It's absolutely devastating to hear about her life being cut short with so much promise ahead of her. From what I gather, residents have been voicing concerns about the security—or lack thereof—at Ashley Gables Buckhead long before this tragedy. It makes me wonder if things could have been different if management took those complaints seriously. A young, vibrant life was lost, and while there's definitely accountability on the part of the individual responsible, shouldn't there also be some responsibility on those who allowed such an unsafe environment to persist? It seems like more needs to be done to hold apartment complexes accountable for maintaining safe living conditions. My heart truly goes out to Lohi's family and friends; I can't imagine the pain they must be going through. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home.
