I drive by the Luna Drive and Armenda Drive intersection often, and it's surreal to think that such a devastating incident occurred there. It's a spot most of us are so familiar with—never would I have imagined it linked to such a tragedy involving Cortez. Whenever I pass by now, I notice there are always flowers and small tokens left by community members in memory of him. It's touching to see how the neighborhood has come together, not just to remember Cortez but to also support each other in this difficult time. It makes me hopeful that this shared grief will lead to impactful actions against the violence we've been witnessing. My heart goes out to Cortez's family, especially his mother, Tiffany. She had to navigate through the immense pain of losing her son amidst all this complicated process of justice. Let's keep them in our thoughts and support every effort aimed at making our community safer.
