I'm still trying to wrap my head around how something so tragic could happen inside a place as ordinary as a Walmart. It's so jarring to think about Cedric James Mayes Jr.'s life being cut short there during what seemed to be an argument that spiraled out of control. Cedric and Tarmaine had known each other for years, which makes this even harder to understand. Did anyone else in the community notice tension between them before this incident? My thoughts go out to both families and everyone affected. It's a painful reminder of the urgency to address youth violence and access to firearms. I hope that Cedric's story can somehow lead to positive changes in our communities.
