I'm still trying to wrap my head around the tragedy that took Alexius Spencer's life, and the more I learn, the more my heart goes out to her family, especially her two young boys. I can't stop thinking about the details of that horrible day. It must have been such a terrifying experience for Alexius, trying to escape to safety, only to be found so far from the vehicle.
The bravery and desperation she must have felt in those final moments—it just breaks my spirit thinking about it. It's a small comfort to know that justice was served in the end, but it doesn’t make her absence any easier for her boys. I've read that a GoFundMe was set up for them, and it makes me hope that the community can continue to rally around them and provide the love and support they’ll need going forward.
