Hey guys, I've been digging into the story of John Milton's last days, and I'm really struck by the role of his son, William Henry Milton, in all this. Can you imagine finding your own father that way? It's haunting. William was only 20 at the time and faced the immense burden of dealing with such a traumatic event. He had to process the grief and shock of losing his father while also stepping into a sort of guardian role for the family.
It makes me wonder about the support systems available back then for people dealing with such tragedies. How did he cope? There was no professional help or counseling like we have today. Must have taken a toll on him emotionally. If anyone has more info on how William managed after his father's death, I'd love to hear it. It seems like such an overlooked part of the story, especially with the family's prominent position in society at the time.
