I recently stumbled upon the story of Marshal J.W. Newsome, and it’s got me thinking about how justice was served back in the day. It seems so unfathomable that a lawman could be killed while on duty, and the case would just disappear for nearly 90 years! I can't imagine what his family must have gone through, losing him like that and then just moving away without seeing any justice done. Has anyone looked into whether there were any follow-up investigations after the case was reopened in 1996? It's tragic how many cases from the past just faded into obscurity. Wishing peace to the Newsome family, wherever life took them.

It's such a poignant story, and it must have been incredibly distressing for Marshal Newsome's family to not only lose him so tragically but also have to leave their home in Floral City afterward. I can't imagine the fear and uncertainty they must have felt, knowing the suspect was never caught. It must have been a hard decision to uproot their lives amidst the grief. Has anyone found more about where the family might have gone or how they coped? It's sad to think that they might have felt forgotten as the case faded into obscurity until Dr. Wilbanks’ efforts. It's at least some comfort that Newsome’s name is recognized today. If anyone has info or theories about the family’s journey after they left, I'd be really interested in learning more. They deserve to be remembered as much as Marshal Newsome himself.
