I’ve been following Deshaun’s case, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. I wanted to talk about the overwhelming response from the community at his memorial service. It was truly touching to see so many people come together to remember Deshaun, almost filling New Union Baptist Church beyond capacity. The outpouring of love and support from the community shows just how much Deshaun was cherished. This tragedy really highlights how senseless acts of violence impact not just one family, but an entire community. Many of those in attendance were fellow students and teachers from KASA and Frederick Douglass who shared beautiful stories about Deshaun’s humor and passion for music. It was clear he touched many lives. I believe this sense of community support is vital in times like these, although it can never fill the void left by such a promising young life. It’s encouraging to see Baltimore coming together to address these issues, but there's still so much work ahead to change this narrative for future generations. ❤️
