Has anyone else read about the procedural changes that were implemented after the tragic deaths of Detective Childers and Detective Bell? It’s so disheartening to think that a simple oversight, like failing to verify someone's identity more thoroughly, could lead to such devastating consequences. It seems the department learned a lot from this incident, but the cost was unbearably high. I can’t even imagine what the families of these officers went through during that time. Losing a loved one so suddenly and violently must have been unimaginable. I really hope their legacy led to safer and more efficient practices in handling suspects. Does anyone know if the policies they changed are still in place today? Keeping their memory alive by ensuring such tragedies don’t occur again feels like the least that can be done in their honor.
