I’ve been reading about David Henry Porter’s case lately, and I'm just struck by how common it is for victims like him to become part of these statistics without much public outrage or media attention. It's like we see a number, but forget about the life behind it—someone who had friends, family, and a future. As much as it pains me to say, it seems like the normalization of such violence in Baltimore might be why so many stories like David’s slip through the cracks. It's really tough to think that his case, along with so many others, might just be brushed aside in the memory of the city, while the families continue to bear the burden of their loss. Really makes you wonder what more can be done to change this narrative, because these aren't just statistics to those who loved him. It’s important we keep talking about cases like David’s in hopes of spurring change. Anyone else have thoughts on how we can keep these victims’ stories alive and push for more accountability and support from the community and authorities?
