I've been thinking about Daniel and the impact of what happened at Bethune Elementary School after this tragedy. His classmates must have faced an incredibly tough time trying to process the loss of a friend in such a terrifying and tragic way. Schools are supposed to be safe havens for kids, a place where they learn and play, not where they find out that one of their friends has been taken away forever. I wonder how the teachers and counselors managed to help the children cope with the news and if there were any special programs introduced to support them emotionally. The trauma of losing classmates like Daniel, Diane, Bryan, and Javon must have left a mark on that tight-knit community. My thoughts are with all those affected, and I hope ongoing support is available for them even now.
