Shaqoya Butler was 26 when she was killed by a stray bullet while driving in Belle Glade, Florida, on July 8, 2012. The shooting happened about 2:22 am near Southwest Ninth and Southwest C streets. A friend in the passenger seat heard multiple gunshots and found Butler slumped over the wheel; Palm Beach County Fire Rescue pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office canvassed the neighborhood and interviewed witnesses but reports say no one saw the shooter. Investigators noted the shooting occurred during a period of heightened gang activity and a separate fatal shooting in the area the next day suggested a possible link, but no arrests have been made. Authorities offered a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and continue to ask for tips.

If anyone knew Shaqoya, was in that neighborhood that night, or has information about the shootings, please contact Crime Stoppers.
