Sergey Chepchugov, 41, was shot and killed on May 4, 2014, in Naples, Florida, following a violent escalation during a longstanding dispute with neighbors Robert and Deborah Moulton. The confrontation began over the Moultons’ dog barking and, according to court records, included Deborah Moulton making threats and Robert Moulton intervening with a flashlight. Video from the Moultons’ security cameras captured the altercation; Robert Moulton fired two shots that killed Chepchugov.
After the shooting, the Moultons barricaded themselves inside their home for several hours. Robert Moulton later surrendered and Deborah Moulton was removed by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and taken to hospital after saying she had ingested several prescription Xanax pills. Both Robert and Deborah Moulton were charged with second-degree murder; Robert faced additional obstruction of justice charges. The families had a long history of conflict, with law enforcement called to their homes 46 times and with prior restraining action involving Chepchugov’s wife, Olga Kolesnikova.
Anyone who knew Sergey, the neighborhood dynamics, or who has information about the events of May 4, 2014, is asked to come forward.
