Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the involvement of local schools during the aftermath of the tragic death of Tahnika Michelle Duppins. I noticed that McNair Middle School and Emma Jewel Charter School were both on lockdown during the police search for suspects. While I fully understand and support the need to keep our children safe, it makes me wonder about the trauma these lockdowns might have caused for the children and the community, especially knowing someone nearby had been tragically murdered. Does anyone have experience with how schools typically handle lockdowns in situations like this to minimize fear among students? Also, I feel so much for Tahnika and her family, especially her young daughter. We talk so much about justice for the victim, which is so important, but I also think it’s valuable to discuss the ripple effect on the community, especially on young minds who might not fully understand what’s happening. Anyone have thoughts on this? My heart goes out to everyone affected.
