Has anyone else been following the discussions on the safety of off-campus housing? My heart goes out to Diona McDonald and Timesha Carswell’s families. It’s devastating to think they were just trying to start a new chapter in their lives. I recently read about their situation in Daytona Beach and how the circumstances unfolded due to someone they once shared their living space with. This really highlights the vulnerabilities students might face. Are universities doing enough to keep students informed about potential risks when living off-campus? Perhaps more could be done to provide resources or support networks specifically for students living outside the direct reach of campus security. These tragedies remind us how crucial it is to push for improved safety measures and better community awareness. If anyone has experienced or knows someone who've been through something similar, how do you feel universities can step up?

I’ve been following the heartbreaking case of Diona McDonald and Timesha Carswell, and I just can’t stop thinking about the impact this tragedy has had on their peers at Bethune-Cookman University. It’s incredibly tough to imagine how students who knew them are coping with this loss. The university community must feel like they’ve not only lost amazing friends, but also talented musicians who brought so much joy and energy to their campus. I wonder if the university has taken any steps to provide support and counseling for students during such a difficult time. Also, has there been any discussion about implementing new safety measures for off-campus housing? I feel like more could be done to ensure the well-being of students who live off-campus, especially considering how vulnerable they might feel after such an incident. Sending all my love and strength to those who knew and loved Diona and Timesha. This isn't something anyone should have to go through. ?
