Does anyone else find the self-defense claim by Cates to be questionable? I understand emotions must have been running high with the allegations against Jeremy, but the fact that Cates approached him armed with both a baseball bat and a gun seems extreme to me. Why confront someone like that if you truly believe in self-defense? It’s incredibly upsetting for Jeremy’s family and friends to lose him this way. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to deal with the loss while also facing this complex legal battle. Just hoping justice prevails, and that everyone remembers Jeremy as the loving father and good person his loved ones say he was. Anyone else following the trial closely?

I’ve been following the Jeremy Yelton case, and I can’t stop thinking about the legal aspects surrounding Michael Cates' self-defense claim. It’s such a tragic situation for everyone involved, especially for Jeremy’s family, who must be going through unimaginable pain. I was reading up on the stand-your-ground laws in Florida, and it seems like they really complicate cases like this. Has anyone here seen any similar situations where the outcome was heavily influenced by that legal angle? It’s really tough because on one hand, the law is meant to protect people who feel threatened, but I can’t help but feel for Jeremy’s loved ones and wonder how they’re coping with this aspect of the trial. Would love to hear others' thoughts or insights on this.
