Dav’Neisha Bryant was 24 when she was fatally shot on November 22, 2015, in Belle Glade, Florida. The shooting occurred in her apartment after her estranged boyfriend, Dacoby Reshard Wooten, reportedly forced entry and shot her in front of her mother, Sharon Bryant, who narrowly escaped being shot.

Family testimony and messages introduced at trial described a turbulent, abusive relationship that Dav’Neisha had recently ended and included threatening communications from Wooten that prosecutors said showed premeditation. Wooten was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and related counts. In 2019 a jury found him guilty; he received life without parole for the murder, a concurrent life sentence for burglary, 30 years for the attempted murder of Sharon Bryant, and 15 years for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
