Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the role the community had during and after the events of April 5, 2016, in West Augustine, and I can’t shake the thought of how resilient and supportive they’ve been since then. In the midst of such unimaginable tragedy, it was really moving to see the neighborhood come together—not just the locals but also the wider St. Augustine area. The schools on lockdown, the quick response from law enforcement, and even the counselors who showed up to help people process what had happened all speak volumes about the strength of this community. Keiwuan Jevante Murray and Jamie Antoinette Wilson were taken from us in such a violent way, but it seems like their families weren’t left to grieve alone. It’s comforting, in a small way, to see people unite in their determination to heal and honor the victims. If there’s any positive takeaway here, it's the reminder that even in the darkest times, humanity can shine through. My heart goes out to Keiwuan’s family and friends, and to everyone affected, especially those who witnessed the events firsthand. They have shown incredible courage, and I hope they continue to receive the support they need from both the community and authorities. Stay safe, everyone.

Seeing Keiwuan's story unfold over those weeks was deeply unsettling, especially given how young he was. A lot of folks have been discussing the immediate aftermath, but I've been thinking about those two people who were injured that day. One of them, a woman shot in the hand, didn't even seek medical treatment. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for her to witness such chaos and then to carry the physical and emotional scars of that encounter. Does anyone know if there have been any community initiatives or support groups formed in West Augustine to help those directly affected by that day? It would be good to see the community come together, not just for Keiwuan and Jamie's families, but for everyone caught up in that nightmare. It would help to know they're not facing this alone.

Hey everyone, I've been reading through some of the discussions about the tragic events in West Augustine, and something that keeps coming to mind is the impact this must have had on the local schools. Knowing that they were placed on lockdown while the police were searching for Williams, I can't help but think about the fear and confusion those kids must have felt that day. It's easy to overlook the ripple effects of violence, but these students probably had to process a lot emotionally, talking with their friends and families about what happened. It’s important we consider these aspects too, even as we discuss the main events. My heart goes out to everyone affected, especially those who had to endure the anxiety that day. Hoping the community continues to support these young ones and helps them feel safe again.
