I've been following the Timothy Smith case for a while, and something that's always stuck out to me is the role of Torrance State Hospital in his disappearance. I mean, how does someone just walk out of a facility like that without taking their meds, especially when they’re there for mental health treatment? It’s troubling to think about the protocols in place back then. Were there any security measures or checks that should have been in place but weren’t? I've read some similar cases where patients have managed to leave treatment centers unobserved, and it often raises questions about oversight. It’s just so concerning how quickly things can go wrong for someone in a vulnerable state. Has anyone else looked into the hospital's handling of cases like this, or is there more info out there on how they’ve changed their procedures since then?
I’ve been following Timothy Smith’s case for a while, and something that always sticks out to me is the timing of his disappearance—right after the holidays. I wonder if the decrease in hospital staffing during that time might have played a role in his ability to leave the premises unnoticed. Holidays can be a super chaotic period, both for patients and staff, which might have inadvertently provided an opportunity for Timothy to slip out. It makes me curious about the security protocols in place at Torrance State Hospital back then. Has anyone ever come across information detailing the hospital's security checks or any adjustments they might have made since 2016? I'm thinking that understanding how he was able to leave could provide insights or at least help improve current procedures. Additionally, for those in the area, have there been any local initiatives or searches more recently? It’s baffling that there haven’t been any updates despite the case remaining open in NamUs. Thoughts?
I was just reading up on Timothy Smith's case and it strikes me as very puzzling. Does anyone else find it odd that there were no leads from the tracking dogs? Normally, they can pick up scents days, even weeks later. I wonder if there was something at the hospital or nearby that might have thrown them off? I also read somewhere that weather conditions can affect tracking efforts. Has anyone seen any info on what the weather was like around that time in Pennsylvania? It's tough when there's so little to go on, but details like this might help connect the dots. ?
