According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System Thomas-Lewis's mother, Josephine Thomas-Lewis, reported her daughter missing upon returning from a trip on
August 14, 2025. Upon her return, she discovered that Joi and her suitcases were not at their residence. Mrs. Thomas-Lewis believes her daughter may have been missing since July 2025 and noted that this is the longest she has gone without contact. Information received by authorities suggests that Joi Thomas-Lewis may have traveled via Frontier Airlines in July 2025, though the exact dates of her travel and potential return to the territory are unknown.
Joi Thomas-Lewis is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 125 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She is known to frequent the Estate La Grande Princess area of St. Croix. The Virgin Islands Police Department has listed her case number as 25XP12313 and the NamUs case number is MP153172.
This is not the first time Thomas-Lewis has been reported missing. In August 2021, at the age of 22, she was reported missing but was found safe shortly after.
