I've been thinking a lot about the role that nicknames play in criminal cases, especially in the case of Joanes Charlot Jr. The nickname "Killer" assigned to Joshua Grantley Simpson seems to have had a significant impact on the jury's perception. I can't help but wonder, should that nickname have been used so prominently during the trial? It definitely adds a layer of bias, but then again, it’s hard to ignore the gravity of what happened. Joanes, a young man with so much potential, had his life cruelly taken away. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Also, does anyone have more info on whether cases like this have seen similar arguments being successful on appeal, or is this nickname just too impactful to dismiss?
