I've been reflecting on how David Owens, with his troubled past and criminal history, still managed to enter Parrish Medical Center so easily. It just baffles me how he could make his way up to the third floor with a handgun and no one noticed until it was too late. How could hospital security have missed someone like him slipping through the cracks? It's really alarming and makes you worry about the safety of hospitals, which are supposed to be places of healing and safety. I'm thankful for the quick action of the security guards who stopped him before he could harm anyone else, but it makes you think — what if they hadn't been there nearby? I hope this tragedy leads to better security measures moving forward, so no other family has to endure what Cynthia Zingsheim's and Carrie Rouzer’s families are going through. They deserve answers and assurance that changes will be made.
