I’ve been digging into Rakheem Atkins' case and something that keeps haunting me is how rare it was for July 2016 to have only two homicides in Palm Beach County compared to the previous year's numbers. It's strange how Rakheem's case remained unsolved despite having such a low number of homicides that month. That should have meant fewer resources stretched across numerous cases, right?
My heart goes out to his family—it's unimaginable not having any answers after all this time. I wonder if the quieter July could mean someone out there does know something but just hasn't come forward yet, thinking it’s less urgent due to fewer headlines or public interest. It must be incredibly hard for the detectives too, working with so little to go on. I hope the community can rally together to finally bring some clarity and justice for Rakheem.
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking about the lack of video surveillance in the area where Rakheem Atkins was shot. It’s upsetting to realize how crucial this might have been in piecing together the events of that night. Given that the incident took place late at night, it seems plausible that there wouldn’t have been many witnesses around. But, in this day and age, it surprises me that more areas don’t have street surveillance or businesses with security cameras. They can be so instrumental in not only identifying potential suspects but also in understanding the exact sequence of events. I feel for Rakheem’s family, who are left with so many unanswered questions. It must be incredibly painful to not have more information on what happened to their loved one. Are there any updates on whether new security measures have been put in place in that area since 2016? I hope somehow more evidence comes to light to aid in cracking this case one day.
