It's been several years now since VonTavius Sands and Edward Seymour were so senselessly taken from us, and I can't help but think about how deeply this tragedy impacted not just their families, but the whole Miami community. When I read about Simmons finally being caught and charged, it sent shivers down my spine to realize the role that tiny fingerprints on a car window played in piecing everything together. It's haunting to think about how a single fleeting moment can forever be imprinted, ultimately leading to justice. The patience and dedication of the Miami-Dade detectives throughout those two long years truly stand out to me. It must have been incredibly hard for the families to hold on without answers for so long. I hope they find some peace, even as they continue to navigate life without their loved ones. This case always reminds me of how crucial forensic evidence is—how it often has the final say in speaking up for those who no longer can.
