I'm really struck by the strength and resilience the students and colleagues of Samara Routenberg and Lisa Fuillerat must have shown in the aftermath of this terrible incident. It's not easy to process the loss of educators who were deeply respected and loved within their community. Samara's dedication to helping children succeed and Lisa’s commitment to teaching math must have left such a positive impact on so many lives. I can't imagine how difficult it was for everyone at Lake Gibson Middle School to return to everyday life after something so tragic. I hope the school has found ways to memorialize both Samara and Lisa and continue to honor their passion for education. It's stories like theirs that remind us of the profound effect educators can have on their students and communities, and why it's crucial to learn from these tragedies to offer more support systems for those in difficult or dangerous situations. Remembering and honoring Samara and Lisa's contributions might provide a small measure of solace as we work towards preventing domestic violence and supporting those affected by it.
