I still can't wrap my head around Shonda Smith's case. It’s beyond tragic that those two young children had to witness such a horrific event and then find the strength to call 911. I can't even imagine the trauma they’ve experienced. It’s heartbreaking to think of what they’ve been through and the long road of healing ahead for them. What really gets me is the system's apparent failure to protect Shonda despite her seeking protection from Murkey months before. It’s alarming that even after filing for an injunction, things escalated to this tragic outcome. There needs to be a stronger focus on how we can improve protective measures for individuals at risk. My thoughts are with Shonda’s family and her kids—I hope they find the support and justice they truly deserve.
