Hey all, I’ve been digging into Melvin George Heaps’ case, and something I can’t get out of my head is the weather conditions on the day he went missing. From what I can gather, there was a bit of rain in the afternoon, and the temperatures were cooler than usual for that time of year. I'm wondering if the weather might have played a role, like maybe he got disoriented or sought shelter somewhere off the trail. Given his experience, it seems odd that he’d not make it back unless something unexpected happened. Does anyone familiar with hiking in the Wasatch National Forest have thoughts on how adverse weather might affect a seasoned hiker in that area? It’s just a thought, but it’s been nagging at me and seems worth discussing!
