It's truly difficult to wrap my head around the tragedy of young lives being lost in such senseless violence. The shooting of Levar Alexander Jr. is yet another poignant example of the devastation that has been affecting Baltimore communities. I’ve read in a few places that Levar was found on E. 20th Street, a neighborhood that's apparently seen its fair share of trouble. But what really gets to me is the sense of helplessness that follows these incidents. Knowing that there are people out there who possibly have information yet choose to stay silent is frustrating. I can't imagine the pain his family is feeling, not only losing a loved one but also having to navigate through the uncertainty of not knowing why or who was responsible. We’ve got to find a way to bridge the gap between law enforcement and communities. There's too much room for these tragedies to occur when people don't feel safe coming forward. I hope someday soon, with more trust and community effort, families like Levar's will see justice served. Sending all my thoughts to his loved ones and hoping for some resolution in this heartbreaking case.
