I've been following Kay Vest's case, and I just can't wrap my head around the journey she took. It’s baffling how she ended up so far from home, from West Bountiful all the way to Downey and then near Weston Reservoir. It’s like a journey you’d hear about in a novel, except this one had such a tragic end. Was there anything in her past that might have drawn her to that area? Maybe a childhood memory or a story she once heard and clung onto? I wonder if we'll ever fully grasp why she was on this path. Keeping her family in my thoughts—what a hard thing to go through. Curious if anyone else has theories on what could have happened during those days.
Hey everyone, I'm just jumping into this thread for the first time. I've been following Kay Vest's case and can't stop thinking about that stretch of road between Ogden and Downey. It seems like such a huge distance for anyone, let alone someone who is struggling with dementia. I've driven that route a few times visiting family, and I remember there's a lot of signage but still quite large stretches of open land. I'm wondering if there might be a noticeable lack of street lighting in some areas or if certain exits are known to be confusing at night. For an elderly driver who's easily disoriented, even something seemingly minor could be overwhelming. Do any locals have insights about specific trouble spots along that route? It breaks my heart thinking about how lost she must have felt. My thoughts are with her family.
