It's truly devastating to think about how quickly things spiraled out of control that night. One detail that sticks out to me is how the crime actually took place near a middle school. It's unsettling to consider the potential risk and trauma that could have been inflicted on students or staff if this had happened during school hours. I can't imagine how it must've felt for the young teenagers involved in this case, either. Making such consequential decisions at such a young age, it changes lives forever—theirs, Eric's, and everyone who loved him. Seeing such young individuals throw away their futures is profoundly troubling and raises so many questions about what led them down this path. Keeping Eric's family in my thoughts; it's a loss no one should endure.
