I came across an old article about Victor "Jackie" Theel's case, and something caught my attention. It's baffling that the scent tracked by bloodhounds just vanished at Highway 23. This abrupt ending makes me wonder if there was some kind of vehicle involved, especially with those reports of a gray car. It's a real shame that we don't have more detailed accounts from those witnesses. Does anyone have any insight on why the trail might have disappeared like that? Could environmental factors, like weather or other scents, have played a role? And thanks to the unfortunate loss of the case records, I'm guessing we'll never know exactly how thoroughly this angle was pursued. Understanding more about these early investigation challenges might help teach us lessons for current cases.
