I've been thinking a lot about the role of isolation in this tragedy. The fact that Mark Joseph was working two jobs might have made it difficult for him to spend enough time with friends or other support networks. It’s possible that Mark didn't have anyone to confide in or discuss his feelings of jealousy and stress over Marie. We must stress the importance of checking in on our friends and family who might be going through tough times and seem isolated. This devastating event shows just how critical it is to have conversations about mental health and to recognize the signs that someone might be struggling. My heart goes out to the families and friends of Darren, Markus, and Marie. They deserved so much better.
