I’ve been reading through the details of Koby Henry’s tragic death and can’t stop thinking about how the lack of surveillance cameras on Denison Street might have played a role in slowing down the investigation. In a year when Baltimore was struggling with a spike in homicides, it’s frustrating to see such vital tools missing from areas that clearly needed them. It makes you wonder how many cases might benefit from something as straightforward as improved surveillance. My heart goes out to Koby’s family and friends—it’s unimaginable facing such loss and then seeing the investigation hindered by what feels like easily addressable issues. I hope that highlighting problems like these can lead to some changes in policy, so no other family has to go through this. Does anyone know if there have been any movements or proposals since 2016 to improve surveillance in Baltimore neighborhoods?
