I recently revisited the case of Fumi Oye, and I'm surprised by how few clues there are given the area's usual busyness. The shopping area around University Avenue is so frequented by locals and students that it seems nearly impossible someone didn't see something that day. The timeline has always puzzled me, too. How long was her walk from home to where she was last seen, and is there any CCTV footage from nearby businesses that might have captured her in those final moments? I know the technology wasn’t as advanced back in 1982, but perhaps some shops kept records or logs from that period? It’s baffling how the community could rally around this case and still have no leads after all these years. Maybe someone new in the area will remember something or dig through old files and find a lead? Thoughts?

Hey everyone, I was reading about Fumi Oye's disappearance and something struck me as odd. I’ve been trying to piece together why such an active older woman would disappear without a trace. What's really curious is that her walking route was reportedly pretty familiar to her, and it was in a relatively busy area. There must have been tons of people around on that day — shoppers, students, local workers. I wonder how it’s possible that no one saw anything out of the ordinary or if they saw something and didn’t realize it was important at the time. Maybe someone out there remembers her distinct outfit or her calm demeanor. I keep thinking there might be witnesses who either forgot what they saw or just didn’t realize it was crucial. If anyone has connections or access to old newspaper archives or knows someone with a connection to the area around that time, maybe revisiting those days with fresh eyes could unveil something. It’s frustrating to think some small detail might hold a clue, even after all these years. Let’s keep digging and share any idea, no matter how small it might seem.
