I can't stop thinking about how young Shanti was—just starting out in life with endless possibilities ahead of her. I read that she had just graduated from Gadsden County High and was driving that night right on the brink of her future. It just tugs at my heart. It's terrifying and quite frankly enraging that someone could snatch all of that away from her in an instant.
It's encouraging to see that the community and law enforcement agencies are coming together to make a difference in Quincy. The news about new programs being implemented is a beacon of hope. We need more resources for our youth to guide them away from violence and towards brighter paths. I truly hope these initiatives can foster some real change and save others from such senseless tragedies. My thoughts are with Shanti's family and friends who have to face this unimaginable loss. Let's keep pushing for a safer community where young lives can flourish instead of being cut short.
I can't stop thinking about Shanti Lewis and the unreal courage her friends must have had being in that car with her. Just imagine the terror they went through that night. My heart goes out to them, navigating such a terrible experience at such a young age. I hope they’re getting all the support they need during this difficult time.
It's mind-boggling that Smith was involved in another shooting just days before. How did things get so bad that someone could be tied to two senseless acts of violence within a week? I can’t help but think about the impact this violence has on the Quincy community. Those close-knit towns feel the weight of these losses deeply. It’s reassuring to see the city taking steps to create positive change, but what more can be done in these communities to stop violence before it starts?
