Has anyone else been reflecting on the role of surveillance technology in Miss Liz’s case? It’s so tragic that she pushed for those cameras because she knew firsthand the danger in her neighborhood, and then they ended up capturing the very event she feared. It’s a small comfort that the Real Time Crime Center camera helped catch the suspect, but it’s also a reminder of how vigilant the community had to be because of the ongoing violence. I can’t imagine how Miss Liz’s family and neighbors feel, knowing that despite her efforts, the streets remained dangerous for everyone. My heart goes out to them as they navigate this painful time, and I can only hope that these security measures lead to a safer environment moving forward.
I’ve been following the tragic case of Miss Liz, and I must say, my heart goes out to her family and the community that loved her so dearly. While much of the focus has been on the broader issues of gang violence and the swift arrest of Velazquez, I think it’s important to recognize the unsung hero here: the City of Miami Police Department's Real Time Crime Center trailer camera. How many times have we seen crime stories where a lack of evidence stalls justice? It’s a small comfort, but knowing that this technology played such a crucial role in apprehending the suspect reminds me that progress is being made and justice can, at least sometimes, be served. Hopefully, this encourages more neighborhoods to push for similar installations. What are your thoughts on the use of surveillance like this? I know it’s a bit controversial, but in cases like Miss Liz’s, it seems invaluable.
