I've been following the case of Lawrence Roebuck, and it's truly unsettling to think about how this could happen without anyone being held accountable. I can't even begin to imagine what his family is going through. I’ve been reading up on news reports, and it just hits me how many cameras were nearby, yet still no solid leads. It's alarming how surveillance footage seems to come up short in these cases. It seems like the community’s fear or reluctance to come forward is understandable but so frustrating at the same time. This broader atmosphere of violence in Baltimore around 2016 makes it feel like it might have contributed to the silence—like people are just too scared to get involved. Lawrence’s case is sadly not unique, but each victim’s story is more than just a number. What more can be done to encourage people to step up and help break this cycle? My heart goes out to everyone who knew him, and I hope they can one day find justice and some form of closure.
