I was reading up on the tragic murder of H. M. Eaton, and one thing that really stands out to me is the way the local community must have been thrown into turmoil back in 1893. The Davisville depot was such a central part of people's daily lives at the time, and to have something so violent happen there must have sent shockwaves through the town.
From what I've gathered, Eaton was a familiar face for many, probably exchanging friendly words with commuters and townspeople. It’s incredibly sad to think about how his life ended in such a violent manner on the very platform he worked.
The affair between Eaton and Dodge's sister adds a complex and painful layer to the case, particularly for the families involved. It must have been really difficult for them, having everything become public in such a sensational way during the trial. It's a stark reminder of how deeply personal issues can affect a broader community, and my thoughts go out to all who were impacted by this tragic event.
