I recently came across the McGlincy family case from 1896, and it got me thinking about the impact such a devastating event must have had on the local community in Campbell, California. Losing so many members of one family in a night must have been incredibly traumatic for the town, and I can only imagine how hard it would have been for the neighbors and friends who knew them. One aspect that stands out to me is how the community rallied together during the search for Dunham. Despite the fear and uncertainty, they worked alongside law enforcement, trying to bring some form of justice. It's truly a testament to how people can come together in the face of such horror. Does anybody know of any local records or personal accounts from that time that describe how the townspeople coped with the aftermath? It would be fascinating (and no doubt emotional) to read about their resilience and how they supported the lone surviving child as he grew up. Also, how did having this tragedy cast a shadow over Campbell impact the town in the years that followed?

I just came across some information on the McGlincy murders of 1896, and I can't stop thinking about the haunting details. One thing that really sticks with me is the survival of James Dunham's infant son. I can't imagine the trauma and confusion that child must have faced growing up, surrounded by whispers of such a violent past. It's a relief to know that his great-aunt and great-uncle stepped in to raise him, but the shadow of losing almost his entire family in such a horrifying way must have been a heavy burden. Sometimes I wonder, do we have any insights on how Percy Osborn Brewer coped later in life? Did he speak about his family's history, or was this a chapter that the family tried to keep closed for his sake? My heart goes out to anyone connected to this tragedy. How brave those relatives must have been, choosing to give Percy a fresh start in a world so different from the one he was born into. Would love to hear more if anyone has additional info.
