Has anyone else looked into the safety concerns with service revolvers used back in the 1950s? The tragedy of Officer Alvin Leroy Foss really got me thinking about how far firearm safety has come since then. It's so devastating to think that a dedicated young officer's life could be cut short due to something as preventable as a design flaw in equipment meant to keep him safe. From what I understand, the revolver fell from his holster and discharged when it struck the ground, suggesting a serious issue with the weapon's safety features. It's commendable how this tragedy probably pushed for changes in gun safety technology, but it also makes me wonder about other officers who might have faced similar risks back then. I'm grateful that current safety mechanisms likely prevent such senseless losses today. My heart goes out to Officer Foss's family and the colleagues who lost a brother in law enforcement under such sorrowful circumstances.
