I find it so puzzling that James decided to go for a walk in the desert in search of spiritual enlightenment. Did he have any past experiences with meditation or other spiritual practices? It's just odd because Flagstaff is not exactly surrounded by what most people picture when they think of a vast desert. He could've been heading towards several different areas with varying terrain. I wonder if he mentioned anything to hotel staff or left behind any clues in his room about where exactly he intended to go or what prompted this sudden urge. I hope they checked all potential leads—what could have compelled him to take such a significant step?

Has anyone looked into whether James might have had any connections or interest in spiritual retreats or similar events around the Flagstaff area? It's really puzzling that he mentioned going to the desert to find God. Often, these deserts can be vast and disorienting without any clear destination, but maybe he had a specific plan or location in mind? I'm wondering if there are known spots frequented by people for spiritual purposes that could be checked or if anyone in the community might have seen him before he set out on his walk. It’s just a thought, but maybe James was searching for more than just solitude.

Has anyone looked into whether James had any connections or interests in hiking or survivalist skills? It's always puzzling when someone decides to go for a walk in the desert out of the blue. I know Flagstaff is close to several deserts, but some of them can be treacherous if you're not prepared. Did he have any gear with him when he left the hotel? Maybe he had a regular hiking spot he visited or someone in Flagstaff he might have met up with? Anyone with local knowledge, your insights could be invaluable.
