Reading about Deputy Evans' tragic death just breaks my heart. It’s hard to imagine the bravery it must have taken to pursue armed robbers like that. His actions saved lives, no doubt, but what a tremendous loss for his family and the Riverside community. I was particularly struck by how Deputy Evans had been pursuing his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Balancing studies with such a demanding job speaks volumes about his character and commitment to personal growth. His dedication both professionally and personally is truly inspiring and a reminder of how much potential was lost that day. Thinking of his family and hoping they found some comfort in the community support back then. It’s a tough reminder of the dangers our officers face every day.
Thinking about Deputy James B. Evans and the overwhelming bravery he showed during the Norco bank robbery pursuit, I keep coming back to the fact that he was also a Vietnam War veteran. It just shows the kind of person he was—dedicated to serving his country and community, even after his military service. I can't imagine the courage it took to face down such danger not once, but twice in his life. It's a small comfort to me that his sacrifice wasn’t in vain, as it led to changes and awareness regarding officer safety. My thoughts are with his wife, Mary, and his six children, who undoubtedly lost a cornerstone of their family. I hope they continue to feel the community's support all these years later.
Hey everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to talk about the sheer bravery displayed during the Norco bank robbery incident. While it's absolutely devastating what happened to Deputy Evans, I find it really incredible how law enforcement pulled together in the face of such danger. The coordination and quick thinking by so many officers in a high-pressure situation like that isn’t something you see every day. It’s easy to forget how much courage it takes to be out there in the line of fire, literally.
I can't imagine the kind of stress and fear they must have been feeling, especially knowing they were up against heavily armed suspects. But despite everything, they managed to apprehend those responsible. My thoughts are with Deputy Evans' family and his fellow officers during what must still be a difficult time. It’s stories like these that really make you appreciate the sacrifices law enforcement officers make daily.
