I came across this tragic case while reading about events from the 1980s, and it just stops you in your tracks. Neva Denise Caine, such a vibrant young woman, had her whole life ahead of her, just like so many others we've lost to senseless violence. It's hard to fathom how her story ended so abruptly, just as she was stepping into so many new roles—wife, future mom, and a promising career woman. I can't help but feel deeply for her husband, Dr. Andrew Caine. One moment they were planning a life together, and the next, it was all taken away. It must be unimaginably difficult to lose a loved one in such a horrifying way, with the world learning Neva's name through such painful circumstances. The emotional wounds for the families of the victims, like Neva's, surely run deep. They should have never had to endure such pain. All we can hope is that the memory of Neva and others will inspire positive changes, so no more families have to face what hers did that day. If anyone has thoughts or information on how Neva's legacy might be helping others today, I'd love to hear it.
