I've been thinking a lot about the store owner's son who helped during that awful robbery in Chinatown back in 1984 where Officer Duane Curtis Johnson lost his life. It must have been such a terrifying and horrific moment for him, yet he found the courage to act. I can only imagine the trauma he’s carried since that day and how it might have affected his life moving forward. It's really important to remember that while the focus often stays on the officers involved—and rightfully so, considering their sacrifice—there are other silent heroes in these stories, too. My heart goes out to him and everyone else involved who had to witness such a brutal event. It's crucial that we offer support and understanding to all those who experienced that tragedy firsthand. Does anyone know if he stayed local or if he’s ever spoken about what happened?
