I've been diving into some old cases recently, and the Pearmain Street murders in Oakland back in '86 struck a chord with me. While the main focus understandably tends to be on the tragic loss of life and the brutal actions of David Welch, I've been thinking a lot about the aftermath for the survivors, especially Leslie Morgan and Dexter Mabrey. It's hard to imagine how they found the strength to continue after surviving such a horrific attack.
I wonder if either of them have spoken out or given interviews over the years, sharing what their recovery journey was like or how they've managed to carry forward the memories of those they lost. I can't help but think about the emotional scars that must accompany surviving something so traumatic, and how the community came together to support them during such a difficult time. If anyone has come across anything about the survivors' stories or any memorials for the victims, I'd love to hear more about how they've been honored and remembered throughout the years.
I've been thinking a lot about the role of Rita Lewis in the tragic events on Pearmain Street. It's hard to comprehend how someone could get pulled into committing such horrific acts. From what I've gathered, she was 19 at the time and deeply involved with Welch, which makes me wonder about the influence he had over her. What could drive someone to be an accomplice in something so horrendous? It's heartbreaking to think about young Dwayne and other innocent victims losing their lives due to such a toxic relationship. For the families, the loss and aftermath must still be overwhelming. I hope those affected have found some form of healing over the years. Remembering Dwayne and all the victims today. ?
Wow, this case truly gives me chills every time I think about it. I’ve been doing some digging into the escape plan that Welch and Lewis supposedly had after the horrific events on Pearmain Street. Did anyone else come across the police report details where they mentioned a potential destination they had in mind? It’s baffling to think why they would have ever thought they could flee and avoid capture after committing such an unspeakable act.
Also, I can’t help but feel so deeply for the survivors, Leslie Morgan and Dexter Mabrey. Imagine surviving something so tragic and losing loved ones in such a brutal fashion. Their resilience is just remarkable, and I hope they've received the support they need to heal. Anyone in the community or familiar with the case have insights on how they’ve been doing over the years? Just hoping life has brought them some peace amidst all the trauma. ?️
