I was revisiting the case of Latasha Harlins recently, and one detail that has always stuck with me is the security footage from Empire Liquor. It's incredibly disheartening to think about how clear the evidence was and yet how little it seemed to matter in the final sentencing. Watching that video where Latasha clearly wasn't posing any danger when she was tragically shot, it makes you question how the justice system can so drastically fail a young girl and her family. It’s a stark reminder of how video evidence doesn't always lead to justice, even when it’s right there for everyone to see. My heart goes out to Latasha's family and friends who had to endure this injustice on top of the unimaginable pain of losing her. How do you find peace when the system that’s supposed to provide it fails so completely?
