I've been following the case involving Norman Metcalfe, and I can't stop thinking about the ripple effect his loss must've had on those who knew him. It's hard to imagine the pain his friends and family felt—and likely still feel—knowing he was taken away so suddenly and violently. From what I've read, Norman was just trying to do the right thing by assisting Andrew Zatko. I can't help but wonder if he had any idea of how dangerous Drake could become. Anyone who knew him willing to share what kind of person he was? It’s important to remember the victims for who they were, not just how they died. My heart goes out to his loved ones as they navigate the aftermath of this senseless tragedy. ?️

Hi everyone, I’ve been following the devastating events of November 7, 1992, and I wanted to bring up something that really struck me about Norman Metcalfe’s role in this case. It's truly devastating to learn how connected Metcalfe was to Drake's downfall, not by choice but by circumstance. Metcalfe, from what I've garnered, was just trying to be a good neighbor and do the right thing when he testified against Drake during those eviction proceedings. It’s so deeply saddening to think that such a principled action somehow led to his tragic death. I wonder if he ever imagined that standing up for what seemed to be a fair and rightful action would put him in harm’s way. My heart goes out to his family and friends, who have likely had to grapple with the idea that Norm’s good deed didn’t go unpunished—and in such a brutal manner. It’s such a grim reminder of how life can sometimes, unjustly, punish those with kind intentions. Sending my thoughts to everyone affected by this senseless tragedy. Would love to hear if anyone knows more about what kind of person Metcalfe was—or even about the broader impact his loss had on the Morro Bay community. Stay safe, everyone.

I've been thinking a lot about the testimony from Norman Metcalfe during the eviction proceedings against Lynwood Drake. It's so haunting to realize how something like standing up for what's right, as Norman did, could lead to such dire consequences. He was just trying to help a neighbor, Andrew Zatko, deal with a tenant issue, and it led him to become a target for Drake's rage. It makes me so sad for Norman's family and friends. They must be dealing with so much pain, knowing that he was doing what he thought was best, and his life was stolen because of it. It's terrifying to think how a civil duty can spiral into an act of violence when mixed with untreated mental health problems. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Norman. His courage and willingness to help others shouldn't be forgotten.
